Laravel Developer
*You must be willing to work on a hybrid to remote setup
About the Client
Our client was built as a full service agency delivering digital marketing, websites, systems, and execution for Australian businesses. Over time, the business expanded into building its own internal tools to solve the operational and delivery challenges faced by both clients and agencies.
From this work, two platforms emerged:
- CanTicket – a SaaS platform designed to coordinate work, manage delivery, track tasks, and remove operational chaos from service based businesses.
- Candid Connect – a marketing and CRM platform that enables businesses to manage leads, campaigns, automation, and communication in one system.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled Laravel Developer to help us scale these platforms, improve performance, and deliver high-quality features that solve real-world business challenges. You will be responsible for writing clean, maintainable code, implementing complex business logic, and ensuring the stability of our production SaaS environments. You won't just be "clearing tickets"; you will be building an integrated ecosystem that helps businesses operate with clarity.
Key Responsibilities
Feature Development: Build and maintain scalable backend features using Laravel and PHP (Modern standards).
SaaS Optimization: Write code optimized for multi-tenant environments, focusing on performance, data integrity, and security.
API & Integrations: Design and implement REST APIs and manage third-party integrations (Webhooks, event-driven workflows, and CRM syncing).
Database Management: Schema design and query optimization within MySQL to ensure high performance under load.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Technical Lead to translate product roadmaps into executable code, ensuring "Definition of Done" and QA standards are met.
Documentation: Contribute to technical documentation to protect Company IP and ensure smooth onboarding for future team members.
Maintenance: Rapidly diagnose and fix bugs within the production environment, moving beyond symptoms to find root-cause solutions.
Requirements
Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with Laravel and PHP in a production environment.
Database Skills: Strong knowledge of MySQL, including complex schema design and performance tuning.
SaaS Experience: Proven experience working on live SaaS products (understanding the realities of releases, uptime, and multi-tenancy).
API Mastery: Strong experience with RESTful API design, authentication patterns, and security.
Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS environments and deployment pipelines.
Problem Solver: An "acute problem solver" mindset—you should be able to navigate complex codebases and unblock technical hurdles independently.
Quality Mindset: Commitment to best practices, including version control (Git), automated testing, and clean code.
Highly Valued Skills (Bonus)
Experience with subscription-based billing models (Stripe, etc.).
Experience improving "legacy" SaaS codebases rather than just greenfield builds.
Knowledge of frontend frameworks (Vue.js or React) to assist with full-stack tasks.
Prior experience working with Australian-based clients or distributed/offshore teams.
