Our client is looking for a Platform Applications Engineer to join the team that develops and maintains the technology platform our website and mobile applications run on. You'll be working on foundational features in Peatix's existing code base, as well as helping to plan for the future.

Who we need 

• An application engineer who can be productive quickly in a Perl monolith. 
• A great communicator capable of working with a fully distributed team. 
• Someone capable of working autonomously and asynchronously, comfortable with asking questions and pairing with other engineers to build context. 

What you'll do 

• Build and maintain foundational features like internal APIs, payments, authentication, and authorization. Improve engineering standards and processes. 
• Lead and guide technical decisions with the team. 
• Contribute technical knowledge to conversations about the direction of Peatix's web apps.

Requirements 

• You have basic knowledge or are willing to learn Perl 
• You have experience in Ruby and Java
• You have experience in API integration, especially for payments processing platform
• You have experience designing architecture for and building interactive web applications. 
• You have worked with Stripe or other payment processing platforms. 
• You like to contribute your opinions on technical feasibility and possible implementations of upcoming features. You have a great track record of leading projects and bringing them successfully to the finish line. 
• You know how to write code with an eye on maintenance, scalability, and stability.
• You like to work as part of a team, with a collaborative mindset.

Note: this is a full remote setup, dayshift and weekends off Manila time

• You have experience working with Git and GitHub. 
• You are familiar with running and using Docker. 
• You have experience working with AWS. 
• You can communicate in conversational level Japanese or above.
